Description

by Mary T. Morgan (Author)

Early identification of adverse childhood experiences can help children get traumainformed care earlier in life before lifelong psychological or physical damage can result. This research project was an investigation into the relationship between the adverse childhood experiences of sexual abuse and substance use disorder, along with the independent variables of age, sex, income, education level, marital status, and employment among women with a history of domestic violence. Bronfenbrenner's social ecological model served as the theoretical framework. Archival data from the Behavior Risk Factor Surveillance Study for South Carolina from 2020 to 2021 were used for analyses.
